Biomodd [NYC4]
Build Your Own Bioreactor Workshop
This workshop was part of Biomodd [NYC4] art project which was installed at the New York Hall of Science in September 2012. During the workshop we learnt how to build our own green algae bioreactor. We built contraptions that boost algae growth using simple, and mainly recycled and re-used materials such as aeration systems, lights and glassware. The algae was sourced from different locations throughout NYC during a field trip. We were learning as well about such topics as basic plant biochemistry, photosynthesis, and the use of algae as biofuel and food source.
